How can theological schools inspire environmental stewardship and create lasting change in their communities? In this insightful presentation, Dr. Tim Van Meter, Associate Professor at the Methodist Theological School in Ohio, shares how practical ecological initiatives within seminary life can transform both students and the wider community.

Drawing on real-world experience, Dr. Van Meter explores how integrating faith, sustainability, and environmental stewardship into everyday seminary life equips future clergy to lead on today’s ecological challenges. His keynote highlights practical approaches to creation care, sustainable living, and the vital role theological education can play in addressing climate change and environmental responsibility.

This video features highlights from Dr. Van Meter’s keynote address at the New York City Faith & Ecology Seminary Education Conference, held at Union Theological Seminary in Manhattan in December 2016.

The conference brought together seminary presidents, deans, faculty, and religious educators to explore how faith and ecology can be integrated into theological education. Co-organized by the Interfaith Center for Sustainable Development, the Center for Earth Ethics at Union Theological Seminary, the Milstein Center for Interreligious Dialogue at Jewish Theological Seminary, and the Green Seminary Initiative, the event provided practical resources for preparing future faith leaders to respond to the global ecological crisis.
