His Excellency Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa (who is also the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem and senior Catholic religious leader in the Holy Land) spoke at the Interfaith Climate Change & Renewable Energy Conference in 2019. His response focused on Catholic perspectives on renewable energy.
In 2023 Pope Francis elevated him to the position of Cardinal.
