I want to share with you and debunk a few commonly held views about how others will save us from our ecological crisis, in the hope of empowering us to take action ourselves. One: God will save us, and therefore we don’t have to do anything. This is refuted by a Jewish teaching, as well as other faith teachings:
When God created Adam, God took him and showed him all the trees of the Garden of Eden and said to him, ‘See my works, how beautiful and praiseworthy they are. Everything that I created, I created for you. Be careful not to spoil or destroy my world–for if you do, there will be nobody after you to repair it…’
