Educating Kids on Sustainability and Renewable Energy

How can we prepare future generations to create a more sustainable world? In this inspiring environmental education video, Rabbi Yonatan Neril, Founder and Executive Director of the Interfaith Center for Sustainable Development, visits the Essex County Environmental Center in New Jersey to explore how young people are learning about renewable energy, sustainability, and ecological responsibility.

The Essex County Environmental Center educates thousands of children each year through hands-on programs focused on environmental awareness and conservation. Rabbi Neril highlights how students are introduced to topics such as solar energy, wind power, fossil fuels, nuclear energy, native plants, local ecosystems, sustainable agriculture, and wildlife conservation.

Connecting environmental education with the concept of ecological conversion discussed by Pope Francis, Rabbi Neril reflects on the importance of helping people develop a deeper relationship with nature. By teaching children how ecosystems work and how human choices affect the planet, environmental education can inspire more sustainable lifestyles and a greater sense of responsibility toward the Earth.
