Spring US Speaking tour

Massachusetts

Rachel Winner, ICSD’s Project Manager, conducted a tour from April 9 – May 1, 2015 along the East Coast of the United States (from North Carolina through Massachusetts) to speak to faith communities and schools about ICSD’s work.

Presentations

Interfaith Environmental Collaboration in Israel

Discussing the projects and methodology of the Interfaith Center for Sustainable Development (ICSD); a look at the successes and weaknesses of interfaith advocacy and environmentalism in Jerusalem through the lens our work at ICSD (www.interfaithsustain.com).

Uniting Religious Leaders and Scientists to Curb Climate Change*

Discussion about an emerging international leadership council to work to address climate change from both the international and grassroots levels. The United Planet Faith and Science Initiative (UPFSI) is a project of the ICSD that bridges faith and science as two leading but often conflicting schools of thought to combat the greatest challenge society has faced thus far.

* This particular topic will most likely be a shorter discussion and could easily be incorporated into another presentation.

Shifting Consciousness in the Age of Climate Change

As given at the UN Climate Talks in Lima this past December, this presentation addresses climate change as a fundamentally spiritual problem, namely in the context of our relationship with economics; and provides suggestions and solutions with regard to reframing our consciousness for a more sustainable future.

My Jerusalem Journey – a Crossroads of Faith and Identity

This presentation is Rachel’s story as a young professional in the field of social justice and sustainable development; coming to Jerusalem to explore the rich complexities of this shared and tense land, and her own multi-faith identity within it. To simultaneously learn and to give back – somewhat of a paradox in a place that takes generations to fully understand.
