Course Description
This course will focus on selected sections from Tractate Ta’anit of the Babylonian Talmud. We will focus on issues of Jewish calendar, Nature and Theology, communal responsibility and mourning. We will study classic rabbinic texts and later responses to this text—both traditional and contemporary academic. This course is appropriate for students with advanced rabbinic text skills.
