Biomedical Ethics in a Multicultural World

This course will critically examine contemporary bioethical issues from a multicultural perspective. Using case studies attention will be given to the application of various bioethical principles to a variety of issues in biomedical ethics including but not limited to justice in health care, genetic counseling and screening, environmental influence on public health, human experimentation, genetics, euthanasia, end of life and other contemporary health care problems. A unique feature of this course is its availability to students attending Valparaiso University and participating in its Health Administration Program. The mixture of theological students and health care practitioners will provide an exciting opportunity for mutual learning.
